چکیده

Introduction Central venous pressure (CVP) is frequently used to guide fluid therapy, although there are confounders of CVP like intra-abdominal pressure (IAP) and mechanical ventilation. Despite a large number of studies on the interactions of intra-abdominal pressure, mechanical ventilation and CVP there are few studies investigating the impact of both major confounders of CVP in the same setting.

Intra-abdominal pressure and associated factors in patients admitted to critical care ‎units

Introduction: Despite the impact of increased abdominal hypertension on organ dysfunction and ‎increased mortality, data on the frequency and its related risk factors in critical care unit does not ‎seem enough. While studies have shown that patients’ intra-abdominal pressure measured at ‎admission to intensive care unit can serve as an independent prognostic factor for mortal...

Factors associated with variation in intracranial pressure in a model of intra-abdominal hypertension with acute lung injury.

OBJECTIVE To evaluate the effects of hemodynamic, respiratory and metabolic changes on intracranial pressure in a model of acute lung injury and abdominal compartment syndrome. METHODS Eight Agroceres pigs were submitted to five different clinical scenarios after instrumentation: 1) a baseline condition with low intra-abdominal pressure and healthy lungs; 2) pneumoperitoneum with 20 mmHg intr...

Intra-abdominal hypertension associated with acute lung injury: effects on intracranial pressure.

Intra-abdominal hypertension (IAH) is defined as intra-abdominal pressure (IAP) above 12 mmHg and may be categorized as Grade I (12-15 mmHg), Grade II (16-20 mmHg), Grade III (21-25 mmHg) or Grade IV (> 25 mmHg). Recurrent or persistent IAP above 20 mmHg, in association with failure of at least one organ, is called Abdominal Compartment Syndrome (ACS). The mortality and morbidity of IAH and ACS...

[Robotic prostatectomy: The anesthetist's view for robotic urological surgeries, a prospective study].

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES Although many features of robotic prostatectomy are similar to those of conventional laparoscopic urological procedures (such as laparoscopic prostatectomy), the procedure is associated with some drawbacks, which include limited intravenous access, relatively long operating time, deep Trendelenburg position, and high intra-abdominal pressure. The primary aim was to des...

Effect of body position and head of bed angle on intra-abdominal and endotracheal tube cuff pressure in mechanically ventilated patients

Introduction: Changing position is one of the typical nursing care in intensive care units. This study aimed to investigate the effect of body positioning on intra-abdominal pressure and endotracheal tube cuff pressure and their relationship with each other in patients undergoing mechanical ventilation Materials and Methods: This was a before-after clinical trial study performed on 70 patients ...
